Good Experience = We are at the end of the road for all of our P.C. 19.2′s and we have been searching for the right direction to go. Finally made the choice and these are great. The batteries last a long time and have tons of power, but when they do run dry the charger is blazing fast(15 minutes is the truth). The lights are very bright; I thought there was a hole in the back of a cabinet letting in light when my business partner was using the drill. I keep telling him we can take them back and try a different brand, but all he does is come up with an excuse as to why we couldn’t take them back. In other words, he is thrilled with the choice too. We highly recommend these and are hoping that Makita keeps making them for a long time. They are stout, and powerful. Bad Experience = I generally like Makita tools, but as Andrew points out, the poorly-designed forward / reverse switch on these models is a real annoyance and might even be considered a safety hazard because it creates a distraction when you least expect one. The switch is precisely positioned to dig into my index finger, accidently throwing the tool into either the center trigger-lock position, or from the reverse position to the forward position at any time (I’m right-handed). Makita could have moved the switch 3 mm up and out of the way, but they didn’t. After making a big deal out their ergonomics, it’s truly stunning that Makita made such an obvious design blunder.
